Your identity is a key, not a username and password
No email. No phone number. No central password database.
When you open Äglivia, your browser creates a cryptographic key that stays stored safely on your device. Your public address is how other people find and follow you. Because your account is a key on your device rather than a record in a company's database, there is no password to reset, no email to verify, and no corporate database that can be breached to leak your credentials.
The Vault: your private workspace
Private by default, stored on your device.
Every user has a personal Vault stored directly in their browser. Unlike mainstream apps that upload everything you type to remote cloud servers, Äglivia keeps your drafts, notes, and local history on your own device. Your Vault is completely separate from your public feed. Nothing is shared with anyone until you explicitly choose to publish it.
Publishing a post (Digital Signing)
Posts stamped with your digital seal.
When you share a post (called an "Ag") or write a reply, your device stamps it with a digital signature using your secret key. This signature works like an unbreakable seal. Anyone reading your post can verify that it really came from you, and no intermediary or server can edit your words without breaking the signature.
Relays deliver posts, they don't own accounts
Servers that route messages without controlling users.
To deliver your posts to your followers, your device sends the signed message to a relay server. The relay simply passes the post along to your followers. Relays act like postal carriers. They don't own your account, they can't post on your behalf, and they can't change your text. If a relay goes offline, your account and all your posts stay safe on your device.
What happens if a server bans you?
Separating server rules from your identity.
On traditional social media, an account ban deletes your identity, takes away your audience, and wipes out years of your posts. On Äglivia, an individual server operator can choose what content they want to host on their servers. But they cannot delete your account, take away your followers, or erase what you've already posted. Your account remains valid, your followers still have your past posts, and you can continue to communicate peer-to-peer or connect through other servers.
